With their beautiful mountainous landscapes of Beskid Sądecki and the Low Beskids, Nowy Sącz and Gorlice counties are excellent places for active leisure in a pristine environment. Having conquered the highest peaks, you can savour wide vistas and views of distant summits as far as the ragged crags of the Tatra Mountains. You may also delve into impenetrable mountainous forests, home to rare animals, such as formidable wolves, lynxes and bears. There are also fragrant alpine slopes and meadows with the remaining old, pastoral huts. In the summer you can eat berries straight from the shrub. These include: raspberries, blackberries, wild strawberries and blueberries. The region's landscape has preserved its pristine wildness, and the trails are traversed by very few tourists.
Of course the
mountains entice us not only to traverse hundreds of kilometres of
marked trails. There are also those who prefer to view the landscape
from a horse's back. The long-distance Trans-Beskid Horse Trail which
leads from the Silesian Beskids all the way to Bieszczady Mountains
was created just for them. You can also go on other, local horse
trails, including the Stary Sącz Horse Trail. Overall, its marked
paths in the region are 100 km long, and the starting and ending
points for the travellers are horse ranches and equestrian centrers,
especially Agro-Tur-Konie in Gaboń and Agro-Tur-Ranczo in Kamionka
Wielka. In the Low Beskids, horse riders can head to the large and
famous Hucul pony stables in Regietów.
Apart from public paths
and horse trails, there are also numerous marked bicycle paths. They
allow planning both easy and long excursions, which require high
levels of physical fitness and a mountain bike for riding in a
difficult terrain. If we have enough strength in our legs, we can
cycle to the very peaks of the Beskins. Most of the rental places in
the area provide mountain bikes in the summer, and you will always
find information on interesting routes in tourist information points.
