A flying club from
the Podhale region is organising a historical and avian picnic
commemorating the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First
World War. The event will take place next Sunday (17th August) at
Łososina Dolna airport. The organisers promise a multitude of
attractions, including the first appearance of a transport aircraft
of the Polish Armed Forces, C-130 Hercules, in Nowy Sącz County, and
battle recreations throughout the whole day (10 am. to 7 pm.), along
with demonstrations of equipment from the First World War.
"I
can promise that no one will be bored that day in Łososina Dolna,
assures us Andrzej Sarata, the president of the club. "At the
‘Wings of the Great War - Lesser Poland 1914-2014’ event, For the
whole Sunday our airport will become an arena for events addressed to
visitors of all ages. I am positive that each highlight of the
programme will astonish the audience."
And what should you expect from the event in Łososina Dolna? Some of the highlights are: aerial battles from the First World War period, performed by Kindernay's Flying Circus, simulation of aerial warfare performed by Żelazny aerobatic group, display of historical aeroplanes, RWD-5R and Jak-18, group aircraft acrobatics and presentation of the mentioned Hercules C-130 (in the picture).
If you are not satisfied with observing plane stunts from the ground, you can soar in the air and view Nowy Sącz County from above. The admission fee is 3 zł (children up to 7 years old get in for free), and parking at the airport costs 5 zł.
