Barcice nad Popradem
Start: Thursday, August 28, 2014
Finish: Saturday, August 30, 2014

“It's going to be hot, as the southern wind brings in the Balkan sound. It's fire, not music!” – this is how the organisers announce the second edition of Folk Festival Pannonica, which will take place between 28-30th August 2014 in Barcice near Stary Sącz. This year's guest star will be Boban & Marko Marković Orkestar from Serbia.

The two most important Balkan trumpets are coming all the way from Serbian mountain pastures to the Poprad river. Father and Son. Boban and Marko - "the Legend from Serbia", "Miles Davies of the Balkans" – is how Wojciech Knapik, the originator of the festival and director of "Sokół" from Stary Sącz, promotes the festival. Boban Marko Marković Orchestra – the King and Prince of Balkan brass. Ambassadors of the Serbian trumpet and Gučy Festival regulars. Their music is a fusion of traditional Balkan folklore: sparkling čoček, ravishing kolo and contemporary sound.

The audience of this unique festival – as it is called by its initiators – will also swing to the sound of Polish Jazzgot (a band made up of musicians connected with the famous Trebuni-Tutki family from Biały Dunajec), Hungarian super-group BESH O DROM, ranked among the European leaders of the ethnic scene, and Čači Vorba, a group from Lublin. The cherry on the top of this year's festival will be SOKÓŁ ORKESTAR. "It's a strong dose of Slavic energy, unique playing style, characteristic of the Balkans, original repertoire and electrifying power of brass instruments in this ethnic rock performance", advertise the organisers.

Enthusiasts of this type of music do not have to be encouraged to visit Barcice, as they probably have already booked their last weekend of August for Pannonica. And why wouldn't they? After all, this music blazes with fire...
