Stone crosses and the remains of old cemeteries in wide deserted valleys are the only reminiscences of abandoned villages. Gentle ridges and peaks overgrown with wild forest. Wooden Orthodox churches lost in the mountain landscape. They are the essence of the landscape of Beskid Niski. For long hours, you can be alone on the trail. There are times when you need to take a good look around to find your further way. You may be forced to ford streams, because bridges were washed away by floods or simply they were never there... Hiking or cycling in this area is a challenge, but exploring the unknown gives great satisfaction.
This route through the outermost south-eastern parts of the Gorlice County is a cycle trail for mountain bike professionals. Less than one-third of the route leads through asphalt roads – the rest goes through either gravel roads or dirt roads, or even winding forest paths. The hardest part leads from Wołowiec to the place of the abandoned village of Nieznajowa. A narrow path is partly washed out by the swift current of Zawoja. There are times, when you have to carry your bike over the stream. High rainfall or snowmelt may make travelling through the route impossible. The trip can be easily shortened by almost 9 km, not going up the Wisłok Valley via Radocyna to an old cemetery, but turning directly to the abandoned village of Czarne, from where it is close to Krzywa via Jasionka.
In addition to the landscapes of the Beskid Mountains, the route offers two wooden Lemko Orthodox churches: in Krzywa and Wołowiec, as well as old cemeteries in abandoned villages: Nieznajowa, Radocyna and Czarne. You will often come across stone crosses and shrines standing alone amidst overgrown meadows. Until the displacement of Lemkos after World War II, they had stood in crowded villages, just next to houses. Among valleys on abandoned fields, you can also find military cemeteries of World War I: besides such cemeteries located along the route in Radocyna and Czarne, you can also detour and visit a cemetery in the place of the abandoned village of Długa and another one in the Lipna Valley.
