towers, cliffs, caves and boulders, hidden in the beech forest, for
centuries have raised fear among the local population and have become
a part of legends and folk tales about enchanted treasures and devil
intrigues. Therefore, they have been named “Diable Skały”.
Today, as opposed to the old ages, they attract visitors as one of
curiosities of the region, formed by the erosion of hard sandstones
known as Ciężkowice sandstones. In order to protect them and the
ancient beech forest growing on a hill with the rocks, the small
“Diable Skały” Reserve has been established.
