The St. St. Philip and Jacob Church from 1520, standing amidst old limes, looks like a big shingled tent – with the parts of a steep roof descending almost to the ground and shielding the porches of the “Saturday shelters” in their lower part. When we go under the roof of the “tent” from the side of the steeple, instead of wooden walls, we will see a complicated columnar structure supporting the steeple: this is the only wooden church in Małopolska with the open structure of the steeple. And let us imagine, that this gem of wooden architecture, which the little church in Sękowa is, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, only by miracle survived WWI, partially demolished by soldiers staying here in winter in trenches – for fuel…
